First of all, Im sorry that it has been forever since my last post. I cant believe that it was November when I last post.
Things have been going okay....kind of a roller coaster of emotions and what not lately.
We have some big news....Jasmine has been asked to share her story!
There is an art gallery here in town that in May is going to be featuring Evard Munch's painting "The Scream" Jasmine and a few other survivors have been asked to do their own artwork, telling their story. They will be there opening night to present their art, and share part of their story. Their artwork will be featured for the month of May. She has started writing out her entire story with her counselor. She will use bits and pieces of it for the project. She wants to print out one copy, and burn it. One copy will be printed into book form. From there, she will share the book with friends and family, and then there is the opportunity for her to share her story with victims who are just starting on their painful journey. We have worked out her vision for her art work, and purchased all of the supplies for it. I have been asked to do one as well.
This is a huge step for Jasmine to take. By writing out her story, and working through this, we are opening a door that has been boarded shut for a few years. Her counselor warned us that we could be getting on a roller-coaster of emotions. She said that we could be stepping back in time for a while. So, we are hoping for the best, but preparing for the worse. We have been through it when it all came out, and the year and a half while we were preparing for the trial...It we can make it through that, we can make it through this. It has been hard, because during her last session, Jasmine broke down and said there were some details about the abuse that she hasnt ever shared. I personally am afraid to hear it. (I wont let her know that) All of the details I have heard from her mouth so far have been horrendous. Hopefully its nothing that will cause the case to be re-opened. She needs to get EVERYTHING out so she can truly heal. This is going to be a huge step in that. I am so proud of her wanting to do this.
I will post again very soon (I promise)
